More than four dozen children from Newark enjoyed a classic summertime carnival complete with a clown, magician, face painting, popcorn and cotton candy at the North Ward Center’s Family Success Center.
The June 29 carnival kicked off a series of free child-friendly events to be held every Wednesday during the summer at the Family Success Center on Mt. Prospect Avenue. Upcoming activities include movie night, jewelry making, Zumba, sewing and arts and crafts.

A free Woman’s Health Fair will be held at the North Ward Center’s Family Success Center in Newark on Saturday, June 11, from noon to 4 p.m.
The event, which is being held in collaboration with the Newark Community Health Centers, is designed to provide information for community members about health-related issues.
The health fair will take place in the Family Success Center parking lot at 286 Mt. Prospect Avenue. It will feature a variety of free health screenings for breast cancer, diabetes, body mass index, blood pressure, HIV.

The North Ward Center’s Family Success Center in Newark celebrated Thanksgiving early with activities for parents and kids, and ended the night with a family-style feast.
About 35 parents and children attended the Nov. 17 event, where they worked together to decorate Thanksgiving wreaths, turkeys and door hangers.
